An irresistible baseball star and a resistant hometown girl stumble into love in a flirty romance by New York Times bestselling author Lauren Layne.
Pro baseball shortstop Carter Ramsey is about to be Citizen magazine’s Man of the Year, but the only title that matters to him is out of reach: World Series MVP. Benched by a recent injury, Carter retreats to his hometown to recover. His ten-year class reunion and a potential reconciliation with the sweetheart he left behind could be perfect distractions. Until another old acquaintance throws Carter a curveball.
Olive Dunn admits that her former high school science partner is still a handsome charmer. But she wasn’t swayed then, and she won’t be swayed now. Because Olive remembers Carter’s little shortcoming: he tends to bail the moment it suits him, without a backward glance. Best to keep her feelings strictly platonic while he’s in town.
Except the entitled boy she knew is a changed man: solid, reflective, and generous. As they ease back in to their familiar friendship, things take a surprising turn, and Carter and Olive must decide if what they have is a passing flirtation or a real shot at love.

YOURS TO KEEP by Lauren Layne
Yours to Keep by Lauren Layne is the second book in the Man of the Year series.
Carter Ramsey was just picked as the next Man of the Year for Citizen magazine. He may be a professional baseball player but all Carter wants to win is the MVP in a World Series. Too bad his new broken arm will stop that from happening this year. Feeling down in the dumps, Carter decides to go back to his hometown, Haven, to see his family and rehab there. Another draw was that Felicity, his high school girlfriend, who was recently divorced, was coming back to town for their 10th year class reunion.
Carter rents a small house on the outskirts of town that happens to be next door to Olive Dunn, his chemistry lab partner from senior year. Olive realizes what Carter’s coming back home means and she decides to help him navigate the town of Haven and all of it’s little quirks. As Carter and Olive spend more time together, sparks start to fly. They both know that their time together is limited because he will need to return to New York. Just when it looks like things with Olive are going to work out, Felicity shows up and adds an extra complication to everything. It will take some heavy thinking on Carter and Olive’s parts but they will eventually find their happy ending.
I just freaking loved Olive in Yours To Keep by Lauren Layne. She was so fun, and real and down to earth. She kept me laughing all throughout the story. Carter seemed like a genuinely nice guy. I really enjoyed how he was with Olive and you couldn’t help but root for them. Overall this is a great addition to this series!
