‘TWAS THE KNIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS by Hermione Moon
‘Twas the Knight before Christmas by Hermione Moon, book five in The Avalon Café series, was another delightful and intriguing cozy mystery.
After six amazing months of marital life Gwen, Arthur, and Merlin are preparing for their first Christmas together, before their twins are born, when they are interrupted by a friend in need of help. Morgana’s Sisters along with their allies are summoning the Saxon god Woden; asking that he collect all the last souls during his Wild Hunt on the night of the winter solstice. All of the portals to the afterlife have been locked so no souls are able to leave England.
It is their belief that the ghost who knows the truth about the Paladin’s Prophecy will be among them. Gwen and Arthur are joined by their best friends and Arthur’s sister and one other as they travel toward London and its surroundings in order to stop this summoning in time for Christmas. During their travels we, the reader, learn a great deal about the history of England and additional information about many famous people who, over time, resided on her shores; traveling back in time through Gwen’s visions.
Once again, Gwen and Arthur’s past and future are tied to this case. Ms. Moon created a story that is full of enchantment, legends, along with the perfect mix of suspense, sweet romance and magic. I was so caught up in the story that I kept reading, finishing this book in one sitting. I highly recommend ‘Twas the Knight before Christmas to other readers.
