The Rogue of Fifth Avenue
by Joanna Shupe
Keeper of secrets.
Breaker of hearts.
He can solve any problem . . .
In serving the wealthy power brokers of New York society, Frank Tripp has finally gained the respectability and security his own upbringing lacked. There’s no issue he cannot fix . . . except for one: the beautiful and reckless daughter of an important client who doesn’t seem to understand the word danger.
She’s not looking for a hero . . .
Excitement lies just below Forty-Second Street and Mamie Greene is determined to explore all of it—while playing a modern-day Robin Hood along the way. What she doesn’t need is her father’s lawyer dogging her every step and threatening her efforts to help struggling families in the tenements.
However, she doesn’t count on Frank’s persistence . . . or the sparks that fly between them. When fate upends all her plans, Mamie must decide if she’s willing to risk it all on a rogue . . .
O-M-G. Perfection! I absolutely loved THE ROGUE OF FIFTH AVENUE by Joanna Shupe. Once I started reading, I simply couldn’t put it down! Ms. Shupe managed to capture my attention, not only with the characters and the story line, but also interesting historical facts. I Googled places, like Washington Square Park just to see what she was referring to in the story.
Mamie Greene is adventurous, witty and has a soft spot for those less fortunate. She finds mischievous ways to gain funds to help women downtown who struggle financially.
She also starts feeling attraction for Frank Tripp, her dad’s exceptional lawyer, but her father will never approve of any man for his beloved daughter, only the man betrothed to her since childhood, who is the son of another wealthy family.
Frank is dazzled and intrigued by Mamie, and when he starts following to protect her from her unconventional ways, he starts falling head over heels for her. But Frank hides secrets from his past that haunt him. If people found out, it may be the end for him in so many ways.
The Banter between Frank and Mamie was witty and entertaining! Their chemistry, passion and forbidden love was off the charts. I kept thinking how are they going to make it work when they have everything going against them?
