I always knew I was different.
From a young age, my mind has been plagued with things only I could see. Some hauntingly beautiful, others completely terrifying. Never knowing if these visions were real or just hallucinations, I learned how to lock them down and ignore them. I learned to take solace in the relative anonymity of city life and find peace in the rainy days my city of Seattle is known for.
But just when I think my life is getting on track and my dreams are achievable, a moment of weakness causes me to learn a hard and fast lesson.
My entire existence has been a lie.
Now I’m faced with a new reality that’s as implausible as it is fantastical. Filled with realms and veils, light and dark, fae and daemons, gods and angels—things I don’t understand but am forced to acknowledge. It doesn’t help that the man teaching me about my unique gifts is the gorgeously handsome Carrick Byrne, one of Seattle’s richest and most powerful men. He intimidates, annoys, and intrigues me all at the same time. I don’t trust him and yet there’s no one else to help me.
No longer certain who to put my faith in, what to believe, or how I fit into it all, one revelation is clear…
The world as I know it will never be the same again.
The Revelation of Light and Dark is book one of the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series and is best enjoyed if read in series order.

Sue thoughts

The Revelation of Light & Dark by Sawyer Bennett is the first book in the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series.

I read all of Sawyer Bennett’s books but I wasn’t certain about this new series…’s not my usual cup of tea….but because it was Sawyer I thought I’d give it a try. Boy am I glad I did. Yes, it is a fantasy romance story; and once I got a better understanding of the types of characters involved, I just loved the story. It does end on a cliffhanger, but thankfully the next book comes out in a few weeks.

Finley Porter has spent most of her life knowing she is different and has learned to deal with her mental issues. Her twin sister tries to help her but Finley doesn’t like Fallon’s fiance, Blain Stratherton, III so she tends to stay away. Finley works at One Bean, a local coffeehouse as the manager. When the owner, Rich Cardell offers Finley the chance to buy his business, she starts looking into ways she can come up with money that would be needed.

When Fallon insists Finley comes to the big show at her art gallery, she is hesitant but does go. She ends up meeting Michael Varrons, an up an coming artist and the two hit it off. Finley also meets Carrick Byrne and these two do NOT hit it off! Imagine Finley’s surprise when she goes to the interview with Olympic Dreams for the possible Dream Starter grant to be able to purchase One Bean and who does she see…..Carrick! When something surprising happens, Finley’s world as she knows it is about to change in a major way and the only person who can help her is Carrick! As Finley and Carrick navigate through this new information, many new, interesting and strange things are revealed. Just when Finley is starting to understand things…..BOOM….she is hit with a big, dark reveal!

I am really enjoying these characters and am having fun learning things along with Finley. At times I just want to strangle Carrick though! I wish I could figure him out a little better. Some times he’s rude and condescending then other times he’s sweet and thoughtful. I know there will be a big reveal about him but I’m not sure what that will be…..maybe he’s a royal, maybe he’s a fae. All I know is that when I finished this book I was irritated that I have to wait two more weeks to get the next book! I would highly recommend giving this new series a try.
