Eileen’s Thoughts…

CC and Wade’s unexpected love story in Nothing But Trouble by Amy Andrews, book one in her Creedence Colorado series, was a fun, charming, amazing, and amusing story that I could not put down; yes, I did read it, non-stop, in one day, getting totally lost in the story.

CC has decided she has had enough as former football star Wade’s PA. Instead of accepting her resignation Wade decides they should spend the next three months in his hometown of Credence while he finishes writing his memoir, expecting few interruptions.

Imagine his displeasure when the town plans to bring more women to the area. Wade does not want this plan to succeed and works to keep it from happening. However, the townspeople are quite happy to see the new blood infused into the town with new businesses popping up and even the occasional love relationship working out; including Wade’s own brother. Wade becomes angry when his own mother convinces CC into working on this plan and helping the town!! This scheme had so much humor and funny scenes that one could not help but laugh and smile while reading.

I liked CC and Wade from the beginning, despite feeling badly for CC with all she had to deal with from Wade; things that were definitely not in her job description. CC was quite dedicated, willing to help Wade get through his writer’s block. It made me wonder how Wade would survive after CC left. I was not even sure there would be anyone who could replace CC; able to complete every demand from Wade with ease and almost a smile. I loved how well she fit into the town and was readily accepted by the townspeople, who were usually wary of strangers.

The relationship between CC and Wade actually felt more intimate than many couples might have; a yin to his yang. They were perfect for each other if only they could forget their baggage, learn to trust each other, and realize it before it’s too late. Once Wade realizes how he actually feels about CC, he recognizes this loss of his PA or his “left tackle” as he often called her, will need a “Hail Mary” pass that she will never see coming, in order to keep her by his side.

Ms. Andrews wrote a wonderful, funny and charming story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving CC and Wade a chance at love, happiness, and a future neither expected. I highly recommend Nothing But Trouble to other readers and look forward to reading the next book in this series.
