HOW TO TRAIN YOUR EARL by Amelia Grey

Christy's Thoughts

The third and final installment of Amelia Grey’s First Comes Love series.

Brina Feld runs into a dimly lit library at a masked ball in Paris to hide from an overzealous pursuer.  Once the door is closed, she spies a man tied to a chair whose first words are “Don’t just stand there, come untie me.”

After this “meet cute” they part ways.  Zane Browning, the newly named Earl of Blacknight, spots Brina in London and places a wager that she will become his wife by the end of the Season.  He’s smitten with Brina and thinks that by making a commitment to her he can show his family he has settled down, will become a respectable member of society and therefore be able take his place as head of the family.

Brina wants to remain a widow and even though she is intrigued by him, she know he will not change his rakehell ways.  She counter wagers him that he has to stop drinking, gambling, swearing, and womanizing until the last ball of the Season.  If he can do that, she will accept his proposal.

Only Brina doesn’t realize Zane always plays to win, and excluding all women also includes denying herself the delicious temptation that is Zane Browning.

Thank you Edelweiss+ and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. 3.5 Stars.

Sue thoughts

How to Train Your Earl by Amelia Grey is the third book in the First Comes Love series.

Brina Feld is the last of our widows from the sinking of the Salty Dove to get her happy ending. Brina has been content still mourning her husband Stewart for the past five years. She has no plans to ever get married again and everyone knows it. One night while in Paris with her aunt, Brina comes upon a man, tied to chair at a party. Not just any man, but Zane, the Earl of Blacknight, and a known rake. Known for his gambling, drinking and women, Zane never expected to be the Earl, but now he’s faced with having to change his ways and knows just the proper lady for that task… Mrs. Brina Feld. He even ends up placing a bet to the fact that she will agree to marry him at the last ball of the season. Brina then counters that he has to give up gambling, drinking and women during that time and if he does she will marry him.

The more time Brina and Zane spend together, the hotter their chemistry gets. They are both having to deal with a life that they never expected or wanted and together they are learning that they may be the answer to each others prayers.

Just when it looks like Zane is going to win the bet, a surprising circumstance happens and blows everything up. A surprising person will help put everything back into prospective and then Brina and Zane will finally get their perfect happy ending!

I just adored Brina and Zane. They both are really trying to live a life they never really wanted but they also are trying to do the right things. Together they brought out the best in each other and deserved to have their happy ever after. I’m sad to see this series end. I have thoroughly loved all three books in this series.  5 Stars!
