CUPCAKES AND CRUMBS by Melissa McClone
Cupcakes and Crumbs is an emotional, tug at your heart strings, sweet women’s fiction story by Melissa McClone, book one in her Berry Lake Cupcake Posse. This is a story about friends who lost touch over the years, but reunite and realize they are stronger together than apart.
After the death of the aunt, who helped raise her, Bria Landon learns that she only inherited fifty percent of her aunt’s small-town cupcake shop; the other half going to her estranged father. Not only that, her dad hires her worst enemy, her first love, to turn the beloved place into a soulless franchise or to sell it and have it torn down. In order to save her aunt’s legacy, Bria turns to her old friends, a group of women who all worked there fifteen years ago. The only problem is that each woman is at a different place in their lives. Missy, a young widow who fears losing the job she loves; Juliet is trying to prove she’s more than a trophy wife; Nell, an ER nurse, who’s meddling mother won’t stop playing matchmaker; and Selena, a life coach who strives at fixing everyone else’s lives but has no clue what is missing in hers. As the Berry Lake Cupcake Posse work to keep the cupcake baking, they start encountering more trouble than they ever expected.
Ms. McClone wrote a wonderful, heartwarming, and moving story that is not to be missed. I loved the connections these characters made with each other and how compassionate they feel about the cupcake shop. I highly recommend Cupcakes and Crumbs to other reader. Note: this story ends in a cliffhanger(s) and will be completed in book two.
