tell everyone in the house about my exciting dreams, even though they try not to listen.
Do you have any hobbies or particular skills?
I’m a baby whisperer, a champion bed-maker and a pretty good baker.
Weirdest or unique thing you own.
This Christmas, my daughter gave me a little cardboard box containing one of her toenails, that came off when she banged her toe. So yeah, that’s the weirdest. For now, anyway.
What do you hope readers will experience or gain when reading your stories?
Laugh, cry, laugh again, and feel like they’ve made a friend.
I wanted to write about sisters who’ve had completely different childhoods because of the age gap and how it affects them. My mom is the oldest of nine. She was married and pregnant when her baby brother was born; she was 22, her mom was 42. All my aunts and uncles had such different experiences of their parents…But the kick-off event in the story—Barb learning that her longtime spouse has been having an affair—is something that’s unfortunately common in my circle of friends. There’s a good way to end a marriage, and a bad way, and I wanted to write about the fallout of infidelity, especially in a long marriage.
A few traits about the hero and heroine:
Noah Pelletier is grumpy, hardworking and a completely softy. Well, there are three heroines in the story: Barb, the mom, and her two daughters, Juliet and Sadie. Barb is steady, loyal and stoic; Juliet is brilliant, accomplished and high-strung; and Sadie is funny, kind and spontaneous.

From New York Times bestselling author Kristan Higgins, a new novel examining a family at the breaking point in all its messy, difficult, wonderful complexity.
The Frosts are a typical American family. Barb and John, married almost fifty years, are testy and bored with each other...who could blame them after all this time? At least they have their daughters-- Barb's favorite, the perfect, brilliant Juliet; and John's darling, the free-spirited Sadie. The girls themselves couldn't be more different, but at least they got along, more or less. It was fine. It was enough. Until the day John had a stroke, and their house of cards came tumbling down. Now Sadie has to put her career as a teacher and struggling artist in New York on hold to come back and care for her beloved dad--and face the love of her life, whose heart she broke, and who broke hers. Now Juliet has to wonder if people will notice that despite her perfect career as a successful architect, her perfect marriage to a charming Brit, and her two perfect daughters, she's spending an increasing amount of time in the closet having panic attacks. And now Barb and John will finally have to face what's been going on in their marriage all along. From the author of Good Luck with That and Life and Other Inconveniences comes a new novel of heartbreaking truths and hilarious honesty about what family really means.

Do you ever write scenes based on something from your real life?
Great question, Sue! I’ll ask her tonight. Thanks for stopping by.
