1. What genre(s) do you write?
My books tend to cross genres. They are historical, some are straight mystery novels, others funny or suspenseful, all with a touch of romance. The Tuscan Child is a historical novel with a central mystery and a little romance.
2. Coffee or tea lover?
I do enjoy a cup of coffee but I'm British. I have to have my morning and afternoon cups of tea! Can't exist without them. When we travel we take our tea with us.

3. Name one thing on your bucket list.

An African Safari. I'm married to a man who is sure that lions will eat his toes if he goes on safari so I'd have to go without him!
4. Do you have pets?
Alas no. We divide our time between California, Arizona and Europe which would make traveling with a pet impossible, but I am pet-grandma to my daughters' dogs.

5. When I wake up every morning I...  have to confess that I read my emails and check out my Facebook page first. Then it's a cup of tea and usually straight to work at my computer.

6. Weirdest or unique thing you own.
The strangest thing we own as a family is an elephant's foot waste-paper basket. It came from my husband's grandfather who used to be the British representative in Malaysia. It's horribly creepy. But the most unique things I own are the Agatha award teapots I have won!
7. Do you have any hobbies or particular skills?
I love to sing, play the Celtic harp, paint and sketch, and I love hiking with friends.
8. What do you hope readers will experience or gain when reading your stories?
I always want to take readers to a time and place, to make them feel they are there and experiencing it, not being told about it. And of course I want them emotionally invested in the story, really caring about the characters.

The Tuscan Child

In 1944, British bomber pilot Hugo Langley parachuted from his stricken plane into the verdant fields of German-occupied Tuscany. Badly wounded, he found refuge in a ruined monastery and in the arms of Sofia Bartoli. But the love that kindled between them was shaken by an irreversible betrayal.
Nearly thirty years later, Hugo’s estranged daughter, Joanna, has returned home to the English countryside to arrange her father’s funeral. Among his personal effects is an unopened letter addressed to Sofia. In it is a startling revelation.
Still dealing with the emotional wounds of her own personal trauma, Joanna embarks on a healing journey to Tuscany to understand her father’s history—and maybe come to understand herself as well. Joanna soon discovers that some would prefer the past be left undisturbed, but she has come too far to let go of her father’s secrets now…
